Non compete form. Can i get in trouble with the law?
I was hired and trained to spin and do tricks with signs, upon training i signed a non-compete form stating i would not teach or go outside the company. But i recently quit due to bad management(he cursed and bellitled me and i didnt feel safe around him anymore) and now i would like to take my experience with sign spinning and start my company in a whole different city which is over 40 miles from the location of his bussiness. Will i get in trouble because the length of the contract was for two years, but the miles was only 25. What are my chances of getting in trouble with the law? Thank you for your help
If the non-compete agreement specified a 25 mile radius and you go 40 miles away, you have nothing to worry about, even if the non-compete agreement is 100% enforceable. You would not get in trouble with ‘the law’ in any case. Your former employer would have to sue you in civil court. That said, non-compete agreements a difficult, if not impossible to enforce in many states.
SAP certification advice. Would it be prudent to get some type of SAP certification to increase job prospects?
I’ve worked in purchasing/contracting for six years but I have only used job specific business software (in the AIr Force for example we used PD2). Now I am attempting to start a career with some local businesses that use SAP but I don’t have any hands on experience. I have made myself familiar with SAP through online tutorials etc but they are obviously looking for direct SAP experience. My last job interview for example was with Whirlpool and one of the people I interviewed with seemed very interested in my SAP experience. I explained my experience with information management software and my familiarity with SAP but I did not end up receiving a call back. I know experience is the best option but I can’t get a job to get that hands on experience. I’m wondering if one of the SAP certifications would be worth considering just to increase my chances of being hired?
It’s not clear to me what role/experience you have with software right now, so it’s hard to know if the certification would be beneficial. (My experience is my consulting work and my husband’s career in the software industry.)
If you have design or programming skills, especially in the areas of IT, then SAP certification on top of that is definitely marketable. Most people I know with SAP certs have at least a BS in Computer Science (or equivalent) and many have their Masters too. If you are unfamiliar with a specific skillset or do not have a broad computer science understanding, the SAP classes will not make much sense to you.
The classes are crazy expensive. A one-week class can cost $10K on average. SAP has set up a 3-tiered certification now, but to me, the associate level will not give you any leverage unto itself. Integration of SAP systems into the broader spectrum of a company’s systems is where the money is made and if you aren’t skilled in those areas, you won’t be hired for your SAP associate certification.
It is not clear to me whether you have a degree or not – if you do not, I would suggest you use the money you would have used to get SAP certified and finish off a degree in a computer-related field. Then, you can add to your resume with certifications. If you do have your degree, but it is not in a computer-related field, I would add to that with additional classes (even at the local Community College) in computers on certain skills, like programming. Then work to get certified in skills that say you know how to do those things – like Microsoft certifications. Then, worry about SAP.
Good luck to you!
How Does Ecommerce Application Development Help Your Business?
Ecommerce application development is closely related to the integration of special software to assist business management and web page control. End to end ecommerce application development is nothing more than business strategies that are aimed at boosting business. That is why those involved in B2B interaction have been experiencing an increased demand for ecommerce application development. All sorts of solutions are presently available online, helping people grow their businesses in the most profitable way possible with minimum investment and little effort.
To some investors, ecommerce profitability is directly connected with the quality of the shopping facility. How well and how often the shopping cart is used by visitors on the web site is a true indicator of success for the business person.
Examples of ecommerce application development modes
Resellers have a lot to profit from tools that enable the expansion of a website in manifold directions. Once a seller begins to derive profits from his website, expansion is only a matter of time. A good ecommerce solutions provider understands this and provides an umbrella of tools under various packages.
- Global product content, which is user friendly creation of product categories, management of the store, adding and deleting items, accepting payments and managing the dispatch of these items. The way the material on the site is organized is crucial.
- Sales and special offers, which includes ad campaigns, promo material, the ability to send newsletters, setting up of auto responders.
- Additional support, like the extensive use of pictures, video and other applications.
The cost of ecommerce application development
Facilities and software features provided depend on a variable number of options, which is influenced by the kind of web page you are running. This is also the way in which the customer is billed because you need to pay according to the size of the site and the web traffic you attract.
Most often, the largest packages are designed for sites with more than 3,000 visitors per day. Costs decrease if your site ranks lower and you only get around 750 users daily. This is obviously because of the limited number of tools you want.
The number of products you sell also plays an important part in price factor since the complexity of the site increases with the amount of items featured. Thus, it goes without saying that the more complex the site, the more extended the ecommerce application development.
Ecommerce application development and software package structure
In the conditions of an ever-changing market, the solutions providers come up with many applications to allow room for adaptations, upgrades and updates. Therefore, make sure to choose a service which allows the seamless development of the website, as and when you wish.
As an additional feature, many ecommerce hosting plans give first time users free access for a twelve month period. The software included in such a package may be limited in scope simply because it is free. Paid applications are generally very flexible and powerful. The best idea is to check all the details before striking any deal.
Starting with the second year, when the level of implementation and ecommerce application development has reached its peak, consumers are charged on the basis of the contract but the sums are affordable and the investment is worth it if the application provides enough mileage to your website.
