How can people in the company be united in agreeing to changes in the labor contract?
Our company has decided to shut down for one month in a year and as such, there are changes in the labor contract that will lessen people’s salary during the month of the shutdown. Some people in the company of course do not want to sign the new contract. What can be done so that people can all sign the new contract? What can HR and Management do so that this goes more smoothly?
Through a mediation like environment, you ned to find why this is upsetting everyone so much–not jut the obvious that it will reduce pay, but what are the reasons? Try to figure out if there is one month over the others that would be better to do the shutdown for (instead of june, would it be better to do it in April or December). Try to sell the benefits of the temporary shut down (enables the company to continue to prosper in difficult times, allows for re-organization and efficiency, etc.). Discuss why this decision is necessary, or find out why people don’t think it is–if you can find another alternative, you may not need to sign the new contract proposal. Enable people to communicate without getting in each others faces–step back from the situation and start asking probing questions instead of deciding that one solution is obviously the best…Once the determination is made that this is the best solution (if it is), I think that it will be easier to get everyone on board. Just be honest, respectful, and creative in your approach. it will never be easy, but AI think that the one thing important about negotiating is that no one gets everything they want–if they did, it would not be considered a compromise. Good luck!
Where can I find a free sample of an "affiliate management" contract?

Employees and employers have an agreement where the employer will provide a level of opportunity for their employees to attend work and earn wages.
This is done knowing that the company is making a excellent profit from their efforts and this profit after all cost are met is then distributed to the business owner / management.
Today due to financial pressures some business want to change this arrangement to help relieve the financial pressure on them.
Trouble is.
Will the company directors (managers) be doing as they are asking the employees to do, that is take a 8% PA pay cut.
If a person is earning $25,000 pa that’s a cut of $2,083 pa.
You have to remember that many people have financial commitments for things like housing and personal loans, communication (telephone/internet) plus the other day to day cost of living.
What are these people to do in order to pay these regular bills and cost when they are about to experience a 8% pay cut.
In the past, when there was a lot of money around, did you ever see any manager offer to share that money with the low paid workers or did these workers have to beg for a pay rise?
I would suggest that the mangers fist dispose of their fancy cars and expensive business lunches and maybe start to treat their workers as an important part of the business. Lead by example. That is taking a 20% salary reduction and also agreeing to repay the workers for this gesture when the economy picks up, only then can they ask for such a sacrifice. Lead by example.
